SurgeX First to Go Green with RoHS Compliance
 SurgeX, the worlds leading manufacturer of professional surge eliminators and AC power conditioners, announced that their product line is now RoHS compliant and is the first in this product category to do so.
“This effort on behalf of SurgeX ownership, engineering and material procurement has been a long process, but we are extremely proud of this important milestone for our company” said Michael McCook, SurgeX Senior Principal.
RoHS stands for ‘Restriction of Hazardous Substances’ in electrical and electronic equipment. The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union and took effect on 1 July 2006. This directive restricts the use of Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) and Hexavalent Chromium.
Andy Benton, SurgeX Director of Engineering adds, “At SurgeX, we're not satisfied with just being a technology leader, we strive to be a leader in every way. Being the first US power conditioner manufacturer to embrace RoHS is just one more in a long line of firsts for us. But then on the personal level, it makes me happy to think that our products no longer contain harmful materials such as lead and will not pose a threat to future generations."

SurgeX Unveils New Technologies
 SurgeX has re-engineered its one-rack-space (1U) surge protectors and power conditioners to feature new Advanced Series Mode™ surge suppression and proprietary power-conditioning technologies such as Impedance Tolerant® EMI/RFI filtering, SurgeX ICE® Inrush Current Elimination®, and COUVS® catastrophic over/under-voltage shutdown.
Advanced Series Mode® technology is the latest generation of SurgeX's proven Series Mode circuitry, which uses an inductor as the first and primary surge-suppression component to intercept and contain destructive surge energy. There has never been a failure of Series Mode protected equipment. Unlike other approaches, Advanced Series Mode® technology does not rely on metal-oxide varistors (MOVs) as a sacrificial component. In addition, it creates no ground-wire contamination or common-mode surges and has zero let-through voltage.
